Exercise Stress Echocardiogram (Stress Echo)


Definition: An exercise stress echocardiogram involves patients performing cardiovascular activity such as riding a stationary bike or walking or running on a treadmill while a doctor monitors your heart rhythm and blood presuure to test how the heart reacts to physical activity.

Example: This test is most commonly used to detect a decreased blood flow to the heart muscle as a result of narrowing in the coronary arteries.
