Body Mass Index (BMI)

Definition: A person’s body mass index (BMI) is a number calculated with their sex, weight, and height. BMI is used to represent body fatness and determine weight categories.

Example: A BMI of 19-24 is considered normal, 25-29 is overweight, 30-39 is obese, and 40-54 represents extreme obesity. Being overweight has been shown to be a risk factor for many conditions and diseases.
