Atherectomy (Directional Coronary Atherectomy or DCA)

Definition: An Atherectromy is an uncommon procedure to clean out blocked heart arteries. This operation uses a DCA catheter equipped with a rotating cutting to remove atherosclerotic plaque from the arteries. The catheter uses a small balloon to hold the device in place and push plaque into the cutting window.
