Aortic Valve Replacement

aorticvalvereplacement

Definition: An aortic valve replacement is necessary when a person’s aortic valve either becomes stenotic (too narrow) or insufficient (leaky). While the most common replacements come from a prosthetic or human valve, the use of animal valves can be used.

Examples: Mechanical Heart valve manufactures include St. Jude Medical, Medtronic, and Onyx. These are surgically placed by a cardiothoracic surgeon.
